The world of design encompasses more than just graphic design. Design is all around us but few stop to think that SOMEONE designed it, whatever it is. It wasn't exactly what I was expecting, and I think it was different in a good way. I really enjoyed reading The Design of Everyday Things. Focused upon the premise of the role of great and highly practical design in everyday life, Hidden Heroes: The Genius of Everyday Things is an exhibit now on view at the MIT Museum in Cambridge, MA. The Design of Everyday Things (DOET) by Donald Norman is a classic book on, well, design. For those of us who still haven't read it, here is a great chance to find out why The Design of Everyday Things has influenced a generation of digital designers. It gave me a new outlook on the things that I use in everyday life. Answer: When the designer takes a 2nd step. The design of Windows This is not really blogworthy (although I do feel better; thanks guys), but that I was haphazardly handed a copy of Design of Everyday Things, by Donald A Norman (herein DOET). There is a law that designers of all stripes learn: Form follows function.
